To Tuscany FOR Love

Ciao! We're so excited for you to join us in Tuscany for three special days. To help you plan your trip, we've compiled all the important travel details here, from accommodations to places to visit while exploring Italy. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Our Venue

La Pescaia Resort

La Pescaia is nestled in the beautiful Maremma region of Tuscany, and only 30 minutes from the sea. To reach our venue, fly into one of the airports listed below, then either rent a car or take the train to Grosseto, the nearest town to La Pescaia. If you choose to train, please note that you’ll still need to rent a car or arrange transportation from Grosseto to your accommodation. La Pescaia and other nearby lodgings are only accessible by car.

We strongly encourage you to rent a car - there are no Ubers or Taxis in the Maremma region. It’s the best way to explore Tuscany, and we recommend setting aside a few days before or after the wedding to drive through the stunning Tuscan countryside!

On our wedding day, we’ll provide transportation from a few select hotels in the area, so you won’t have to worry about driving!

Explore the interactive map above to view our recommendations for lodging, airports, and neighboring towns and cities for those looking to extend their trip and explore Italy

By Plane
Nearby Airports

To get to Italy we recommend flying into one of the airports below - all within close proximity to the Tuscany region. Our venue is roughly the same commute between any of these options, so chose the one that best fits your travel plans, although Rome generally has more direct (and affordable) flight options compared to Florence or Pisa.

Check your passports! US passport renewal times can take between 4-6 weeks.

ROME
2hr Drive
193km

Italy’s largest city and airport, located just south of the Tuscany region, and is typically the most affordable option. It also provides a wide range of rental car choices and the best direct train services to Grosseto.

Our Recommendation
Flying into Rome the weekend before is the perfect way to kick off your trip. Rich history, iconic landmarks and incredible food. Explore a few days then rent a car and head north to Tuscany!

Florence
2hr Drive
139km

You can fly into the Florence Airport ("FLR") just outside the city, known to locals as "Peretola". From there you can rent a car and drive the 2hrs to Maremma.

Our Recommendation
Fly in a few days before the wedding to soak up the culture in this vibrant city — it's Greg's mother Debbie’s favorite place on earth! After exploring Florence, rent a car and discover the charming Tuscan towns as you make your way to the wedding.

PiSA
1hr 30m Drive
144km

You can fly into Pisa International Airport (PSA), also named Galileo Galilei Airport. From there you can rent a car and drive 1 hour and 30minutes.

Our Recommendation
Check out Pisa and then rent a car and explore the nearby city of Lucca - a charming town perfect for a day trip. Then make your way to La Pescaia!

By Car
Vehicle Rentals

Renting a car is by far the best way to experience Tuscany, and more of Italy if you're extending your trip. You will be free to explore villages, vineyards and towns on your own time before and after the wedding celebrations. Car rentals are available from any airport you fly into, or any of the neighboring cities or towns.

Driving in Italy
Italians drive on the right-hand side of the road (just like in the U.S. and Canada), making it an easy adjustment for most travelers. While driving in Italy's major cities like Rome or Florence can be a bit more challenging due to traffic and narrow streets, driving through Tuscany is a breeze. The region's scenic roads wind through rolling hills and picturesque vineyards, providing a scenic experience. So, don’t hesitate—embrace the adventure of the Italian countryside with confidence!

By Train
Train Routes

While we highly recommend renting a car, here are the rail routes to Grosseto, the closest town to our venue. We recommended booking trains directly through Trenitalia (Italy's primary train operator)

From Rome

Take the FrecciaBianca (High Speed Rail) from Roma Termini to Grosseto (1hr 40m, direct).

From Florence

Take the FrecciaBianca from Firenze Santa Maria Novella to Grosseto (from 2.5 - 4hrs, usually with 1 transfer).

From Pisa

Take the FrecciaBianca from Pisa Central to Grosetto (about 1hr 20m, direct)
